In a surprising move, Blackbird Interactive<\/em> shared the detailed system requirements for Homeworld 3<\/em> weeks before launch. The game is set to hit release on May 13, 2024<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The comprehensive list of system requirements for the different graphical performance scenarios shared by Blackbird Interactive<\/em> helps get some insights into the level of performance and gameplay you will experience on your PC.<\/p>\n\n\n

PC system requirements for Homeworld 3<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n

As for the minimum requirements or the Low<\/em> in-game graphics preset, you need an Intel i5-8600K<\/em> or AMD Ryzen 5 3600X<\/em> CPU, NVIDIA GTX 1060<\/em> or an equivalent GPU, 12 GB<\/em> RAM, and 6 GB<\/em> VRAM, which is pretty basic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even for the recommended and high segments, the system requirements are pretty reasonable when it comes to CPU, not requiring anything above Intel i7-12700K<\/em> or AMD Ryzen 7 5800X<\/em>. And there’s a reason for it, as explained by Blackbird Interactive<\/em> to PC GAMER<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\nDue to the amount of physics and calculations happening throughout gameplay Homeworld 3 is CPU bound, not GPU bound. In terms of the way Homeworld 3 interacts with players CPU\u2019s, we\u2019ve found during development that core count doesn\u2019t matter nearly as much as core speed. Six cores are the expected minimum, as the game routinely uses four fully. Essentially, more cores won\u2019t necessarily translate to better performance.<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

An even more surprising aspect of Homeworld 3’s<\/em> system requirements is the storage. It’s just 40 GB<\/strong>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That’s way too low, considering modern popular titles can easily occupy double that. Baldur’s Gate 3<\/em> needs 150 GB<\/em> of free storage, while Helldivers 2<\/em> requires 100 GB<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Blackbird Interactive<\/em> hasn’t yet shared what FPS (frame rate per second)<\/em> we can expect under the different graphical performance scenarios. But with Homeworld 3’s<\/em> launch just weeks away, we won’t have to wait that long to find out!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
